At Herne Juniors, we learn French regularly throughout every year of our school journey. In addition to this, we take every opportunity to explore other languages and cultures. Each year group has an extra language study which links to their History learning or extends their Language learning, as follows:
Year 3 - Latin - links to their Romans topic
Year 4 - Old Norse - Links to their Vikings topic
Year 5 - Greek - Links to their Ancient Greece topic (Year 5 will study Egyptian Hieroglyphs instead during the embedding of the new History and Geography curriculum)
Year 6 - Children study an additional language each term which they may encounter in secondary school
