Uniform Information

School Uniform

Principles
It is our policy that all children should wear clothing that is in keeping with a purposeful learning ethos. We also believe it is important that certain activities are facilitated by specialised and appropriate clothing when attending school, or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. We provide a complete list of the items needed for children’s school uniform below and in our school prospectus.

A stock of good quality, second-hand uniform is maintained by the Family Liaison Officer. Please ask at the school office for details and prices.

It is essential that all items of clothing brought to school are marked with your child’s name, including the items which are not brought in every day.

Children will need a school bag, which should be of an appropriate size.

All pupils will receive a short series of swimming lessons as part of the curriculum, making use of the facilities and instructors at a local pool. On these occasions your child needs a swimming costume (shorts for boys and swimsuit for girls – no 2 piece / bikinis), towel and a swimming hat or hair tie if your child has long hair. You will be informed of the dates of these lessons shortly before they commence.

*These uniform items with the school logo are available from Barnums Schoolwear or 4 Seasons, Herne Bay.

Additional notes:
• Hair should be neat and tidy and kept out of eyes.
• Long hair should be tied back at all times, but especially for PE.
• Children are not allowed to wear nail varnish, make up or any jewellery. Ear studs must be removed, by the child, for all PE activities. On PE days please do not send children to school with ear studs in if they cannot remove them themselves, as staff are not permitted to take them out and your child will not be able to participate.

Lost Property
Lost property is placed in baskets to which children and parents have access – Baskets can be found in Year 3, 4 and 5 areas. Unclaimed items are cleared at the end of each term on the assumption that their owners will not be found. Every now and then we place all lost property on benches in the playground or under the abri after school for parents and children to search through.

Please remember that it is much easier to return items which have been clearly marked!

Lost money, watches and other personal items are usually kept in the school office until claimed.
