Hope

The Lost Sheep

Luke 15 v 1-7

15 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering round to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, ‘This man welcomes sinners, and eats with them.’

Then Jesus told them this parable: ‘Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbours together and says, “Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.” I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who do not need to repent.

We finish with hope as ultimately Jesus is our hope. In a sad world where many are lost, Jesus can rescue us and bring us safely home. We can give our hopes and dreams to God, knowing fully that we have a fresh start in school each day and that He is loving, faithful and trustworthy.

Quotes from our children and staff about the value of HOPE

Hope is great because it fills us with confidence to keep going especially when we feel down.

We can put our hope in Jesus because he sacrificed himself for us.

I loved the story in which the shepherd goes and finds the lost sheep. The shepherd reminds me of Jesus because he went to find that 1 lost sheep.

Lots of parents laughed at our worship on the Lost Sheep because Lambert, the sheep, ran off and got lost. This reminds me to keep to the path…God’s path…because without Him you can get lost.

It is hard to have hope sometimes because of all the bad things going on around us. However, we should put our trust in Jesus and show our school values to teachers and friends. You should still show hope to others you don’t like as much because we should share God’s love with everyone.

In our school, hope inspires us to believe in ourselves. I think God believes in us as He knows that we can be the best we can.

We put our hope in our friends but sometimes they let us down. God and Jesus are amazing as they are always there even if you can’t actually see them.  They are in our hearts.

Children and adult prayers on the value of HOPE

Dear God,

You fill us with hope everyday even when we feel down. We thank you for lifting us up when we fall over in darkness.

Help us to trust you each day of our lives. You are the hope that lives in us because of your sacrifice on the cross.

Amen

Dear God,

Thank you your Son, Jesus, who died on the cross and rose again to give us hope for the future.

Help those who don’t have much hope and are having a tough time. Please fill us with your Spirit of love and hope which we can share with others

In the name of Christ,

Amen
